Black Sustainability Activists: Samantha Foxx

In celebration of Black History Month, Beevo’s Beekeeping Society wanted to showcase Black figures within environmental activism and change.

Samantha Foxx is an entrepreneur and founder of “Mother’s Finest Urban Farms”. She has chickens, bees, and produce. Her drive to start her own farm is because she wants to be a figure that protects the foodways culturally, socially, and economically. She acknowledges that incalculable amounts of Black people have been excluded from land ownership throughout history, and many have traumatic experiences with attaining land from slavery. In her county today only 10 out of 908 farms are Black owned. Samantha wants soil to heal, and she wants her farm to be a step forward to changing the narrative for Black farmers. You can support Samatha’s farm at https://www.mothersfinesturbanfarms.com/ .
